Eagles CB James Bradberry tagged 'surprise trade or cut' candidate following 2024 NFL Draft
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry may have played his last snap in Midnight Green.

Ari Meriov of The 33rd Team shared his biggest surprise cut and trade candidates that might be coming following the 2024 NFL Draft and Bradberry is one of them.

But that's really no surprise.

Meriov explained why Bradeberry is on his list:

The Philadelphia Eagles made it clear they needed to improve the secondary in the draft, and they did, selecting Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell in the first round and trading up for Iowa’s Cooper DeJean in the second round.

James Bradberry was a disappointment last season, and it’s fair to wonder what his role will be if Mitchell and/or DeJean prove they deserve to be on the field right away alongside Darius Slay.

The last time the Eagles drafted a cornerback in the first round was in 2002, so it's clear Howie Roseman means business when it comes to upgrading their secondary.

They then traded up in Round 2 to grab first-round talent DeJean.

And to make Bradberry's seat even hotter, the Eagles invited four more rookie corners to try out during their minicamp this weekend.

Bradberry, who will be 31 at the start of next season, isn't the same young corner he once was and that became blatantly clear last season. He allowed an NFL-high 11 touchdown passes in 2023 and had one of the worst defensive passer ratings among all cornerbacks in the league.

There's simply no longer a reason to keep him on the roster unless the Eagles want to avoid $15 million in dead cap money.

But they can avoid that by trading him and we know Roseman is constantly working the phones.
