Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ Game 7 declaration will scare Nuggets

Considering the way the two teams have played so far, it’s really not wrong to expect an intense fight. Besides, it’s the final game of the series, so both squads need to go all-out to win or else they’ll pack their bags and will have to watch the rest of the postseason at home.

Sure enough, the Nuggets’ Game 6 performance was concerning. They were effectively shut down by the Timberwolves, with Nikola Jokic the only Denver player scoring more than 20 with 22 points. Jamal Murray struggled big time once again, tallying 10 points on 4-of-18 shooting from the field.

If the Nuggets play the same way again, their Game 7 won’t likely be the greatest ever as Anthony Edwards predicted.

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves series

For what it’s worth, the Nuggets-Timberwolves series definitely has the chance to go down as one of the best series in NBA Playoffs history.

Of course it didn’t start that way, with Anthony Edwards and Minnesota actually dominating the first two games of the series on the road. After going 2-0 up, there were some who even predicted that the Timberwolves would sweep the series as they headed home.

Nonetheless, the Nuggets have a different plan. They showed why they are the reigning champions, staging a three-game winning streak to turn the tables around and take a commanding 3-2 lead heading into Game 6. By this point, it appeared like Denver was on its way to a series win, with the momentum clearly shifting to their side.

But then, Game 6 happened. Edwards was sensational as he exploded for 27 points to power them to victory and force a Game 7. He also had three steals as they made life hard for the Nuggets on the offensive end. Ant-Man got some much-needed help from Jaden McDaniels, who put up 22 points, one steal and two blocks to make sure Denver wouldn’t be able to come back in the showdown.

Both teams now head to Colorado to finish off the series. The Nuggets are a hard team to beat at home, but Timberwolves fans will remember the beating they gave them in Games 1 and 2. The pressure is certainly on Denver to deliver, especially since they are the reigning champions. As for Minnesota, whatever happens, they can say that they have taken huge strides in the 2024 NBA Playoffs and established themselves as real title contenders for the years to come.

Game 7 is on Sunday, with the winner booking a ticket to the West Finals and face off against the victor of the Dallas Mavericks-Oklahoma City Thunder series.
