Minor-league report: Davis pops for homer, two RBIs during Indians' double header
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

A look at Thursday’s minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (18-20) split a double header of seven-inning games against Toledo. The Mud Hens won Game 1, 8-6, and the Indians won Game 2, 5-3.

In Game 1, the teams went into extra innings tied at 4. After a scoreless eighth inning, Toledo plated four runs in the top of the ninth. Riley Unroe cleared loaded bases with a single and Keston Hiura brought in an additional run with a single. Matt Gorski hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth, but the Indianapolis comeback effort was quiet otherwise.

Henry Davis had his best game in his seven since being sent to Class AAA. He hit a solo home run in the first inning and an RBI double in the third, and he scored two runs.

In Game 2, Liover Peguero hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning.

Indianapolis starter Michael Plassmeyer struck out four and allowed one hit in three innings. The Mud Hens' runs came from a Parker Meadows solo home run in the sixth and a Bligh Madris two-run homer in the seventh. Indians reliever Ben Heller rebounded from allowing the homer to Madris to induce a flyout and a groundout to end the game.

Davis went 0-for-3 in Game 2.

ALTOONA (9-27) won at Akron, 4-1 . The Curve plated three runs in the top of the ninth on RBI doubles from Joe Perez, Carter Bins and Brenden Dixon.

Here is the double from Dixon that scored the Curve's fourth run:

Curve starter Sean Dixon struck out four, walked one and allowed four hits in seven scoreless innings. Nick Dombkowski allowed a run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Francisco Acuna had two hits including a double.

GREENSBORO (22-14) won both ends of their double header over Hickory, 2-1 in Game 1 and 11-1 in Game 2. Playing at Hickory, Greensboro was the home team for the second game, which was a makeup of a postponement from April in Greensboro.

In Game 1, Greensboro manufactured both of its runs on Charles McAdoo's two-run homer in the first. Lonnie White Jr. went 2-for-3 with a double and Hudson Head added a triple. Grasshoppers starter Alessandro Ercolani allowed a solo home run in the second inning, but struck out six and allowed one hit otherwise in four innings total.

In Game 2, P.J. Hilson homered in the third and fifth innings and drove in four runs. Shawn Ross went 1-for-3 with a double to clear loaded bases in the third. He walked twice and scored twice.

Termarr Johnson went 0-for-4 in Game 2 and is now batting .165 on the year.

BRADENTON (17-19) won at Tampa, 3-1. Eddy Rodriguez doubled with the bases loaded in the fifth, which scored all three of the Marauders' runs.

Shalin Polanco went 2-for-4. Marauders starter Carlson Reed allowed one run on four hits with one walk issued and three strikeouts over six innings.
